Went to the coast this past Sunday for the start of Cruisin’ The Coast and came across this beautiful 2017 488 Spider. Got to talk a little with the very southern talking owner (the guy in the blue shirt and straw hat) who was super nice. More pics inside.

This particular Spider was just finished in July and he picked it up from the Ferrari dealer in Dallas, TX right before coming to the MS gulf coast to see the start of the week long classic car show we have every year.

Hearing the car start and idle while he let the top down was a thing of beauty. It only takes a few seconds for the top to disappear.

The car had carbon ceramic brakes, which were absolutely huge. Not sure how much that option is, but one can assume it was several thousand.

The interior was very nice as well. Lots of buttons and such everywhere but it didn’t seem cluttered.

Kinja'd!!!

One person was brave enough to ask how much it cost. The owner was nice enough to oblige and said a little over $317,000. He also said he had a 488 GTB and traded it in for the Spider when he knew he was getting one.

Is it a 1989 Dodge Ram? Just want to make sure what I entered is correct.

Did they just copy and paste the 458's interior into the 488?

Not that I’m complaining, the Italia had the best looking interior of any modern Ferrari to date.

Ok. Autocheck does not show any records before 1991 for this vehicle. It was involved in 2 accidents. 8/17/91 minor front left, and 7/18/98 front impact with parked vehicle. Clean title, but was corrected in 2002. No other issues of note. Looks like it was registered as a fleet/lease vehicle. Autocheck gives it a score of 68 (the average for this vehicle is 42-64). As always, remember this may not include everything that could have happened to the vehicle, just what was reported. If you need anything else, just let me know!

I agree. There are some similarities between the two for sure.

Someone living near me has a black GTB that I see on the highway leaving my neighborhood pretty often. You’re right they are gorgeous. I wasn’t really sold on the changes from 458 to 488 until I saw it in person. The curves and slopes that don’t photograph well are stunning in person. Also yes a starting Ferrari is quite an event. A few years ago I was shopping at an open air market in tiny little Gruene, TX and someone started up an F430. I have no idea what it was doing in a town in the middle of nowhere, but everyone in town stopped to see what was going on when that thing roared to life. I think Ferrari V8's basically go up to redline when you start them. Probably programmed to sound awesome rather than be necessary.

Wow it’s always the person you least expect driving one of these. Even the lady in orange is confused that an NBA/NFL player isn’t the owner.

I was with you on the changes. Seeing one of these in person is incredible. I still love the 430 and 458, but this one definitely caught my attention.

It was definitely a shocker. With the way he looked and sounded, he would have been right at home in an old pickup truck, not a $300k supercar. Just goes to show you that even country folks like exotic cars.
